What is PVC?

PVC is an English abbreviation for ‘polyvinyl chloride’ or vinyl. The PVC is produced by polymerization of the vinyl chloride monomer. It is a highly versatile product because is has various application according to the additives that can be added (plasticizers, stabilizers, lubricants, masterbatch, foam agents, etc…)

Where it is used?

PVC is used in a variety of applications in the building and construction (pipes, connections, wiring, etc..), packaging (food industry, flasks, hygiene and cleaning products), and also in the shoe industry, among others.

Generically speaking, PVC can be divided into two types, according to is hardness:

PVC recycling process

Once separated, PVC doesn’t present any problem in being reprocessed.

PVC residues, without the inclusion of other resins may incur in the adding of additives as plastifiers , stabilizers and others.

PVC recycling can be divided in the following stages:

  1. Sorting;
  2.  Transformation
    • Grinding
    • Mixing/agglutination ;
    • Extrusion/Granulation and/or Micronization;
  3. Storage
  4. Shipping

In recycling PVC one divides the process in to groups , “rigid” and “flexible”, that are sorted trough the Shore A hardness test.

One of the difficulties of processing residues from non mixed PVC resides on material degradation losses, that can be avoided trough further additive incorporation.

FLEXIBLE PVC

/Granulated

The flexible PVC has it origin mostly in Port-Industrial waste. The PVC is filtered according to their potential contaminations. We produce the following products:

  • Black/Grey PVC shore 86/88

  • Black/Grey PVC shore 90/92

  • Black/Grey PVC shore 93/95

  • Other colors and hardness may be available at request
